Our Mission Statement

Chabad  of Decatur is dedicated to strengthening the Jewish community by promoting Jewish pride, study and celebration. Our goal is to create a safe, judgment-free space where Jews of all backgrounds can engage with their Judaism and be a valued part of the community. We consider it our duty and honor to provide for the spiritual and material needs of our fellow Jews, regardless of their affiliation. 

Avremi Slavaticki, Rabbi and co-director

Rabbi Avremi Slavaticki was born and bred in Antwerp Belgium, where his parents lead a thriving Jewish community. As a young adult, he headed the largest Jewish camp in Belgium with over 1,000 children in attendance each summer. After completing his Rabbinic studies, he spent several years teaching Talmudic studies at a Yeshiva in New Haven, Connecticut and then in Brooklyn, New York. Before moving to Decatur, Rabbi Slavaticki interned at Congregation Beth Tefillah of Sandy Springs as Associate Rabbi and Director of Adult Education. 

Bracha Slavaticki, co-director and program coordinator

Bracha Slavaticki hails from New Orleans, Lousiana. From the time she was a young teen, she took an active role in assisting the Jewish educational facilities in her city. After completing her studies, she spent a year in Burlington, Vermont, interning as a Teacher's assistant in the Jewish preschool there, and serving as intermittent program director at the local Jewish Community Center. Over the next 7 years, Bracha worked in education and created programming for children and adults in various schools and community centers.
